Governor Ayade reportedly fires commissioners ahead of second term

 - The state chief of staff said the Governor Ayade would run a smaller and tighter cabinet in his second term in office The governor of Cross River state, Ben Ayade, has reportedly fired all his commissioners and political appointees, mandating them to submit their handover notes before Friday, April 26. 

A statement signed by the chief press secretary and senior special assistant to the governor on media, Christian Ita, disclosed that the development was necessary to trim down the number of political appointments in the state cabinet, Daily Independent reports.

Ita also added that by virtue of the decision, the governor would be able to run a tight and effective government in his second term administration. 

He said: “His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade will run a smaller and tighter cabinet in his second term in office in order to engender a more focused administration for better service delivery."
